Committee Comments
M. Lisella – excellent job by the Fire Department in holding their clothes drive,           they collected a lot of items. Most of the committee attended the various           graduations in town this past week. Congratulations to Officer Damiano and   Office Moore in keeping a local newborn infant alive until First Aid arrived on      scene.
Al Bille – Thank you also to officer’s Moore & Damiano. The Mayor gave a very nice speech at the graduation ceremony.
S. McCabe – Congratulations to the Police Department in keeping the traffic flowing at the graduation ceremony.  The new designation of the Town Center brings many new opportunities to Barnegat. In order to entice more business we must create a greater business friendly environment. I present a full business proposal to create a successful pro-business environment; 1) develop programs to entice businesses, such as the “Buy in Barnegat†program. 2) Organizational analysis of current Barnegat practices to streamline the business and permit process. 3) Construct a Town Center that is representative of Barnegat demographics in advertising Barnegat to appropriate businesses and surroundings; these will bring in tax incentives for businesses. I am asking our Economic Development Committee to construct an analysis of our permitting process, evaluate the need for a market study, and return the results to see how the Township can improve its structure and progress. I am happy to report that work has commenced on the Lower Shore Field regarding the installation of the multi-purpose artificial turf field. In addition to moving forward with the much needed recreation field, Mr. Cotton who has volunteered many hours, has been successful with obtaining a high quality field from a professional venue in the region. This field has limited use and will benefit the Township for many years, since it has only game day or competitive use. The existing turf will be utilized as a perimeter around the actual playing surface, saving costs of placing a suitable surface in that adjacent area along with the reduction of the overall costs. We are eager to witness the completion of the field so the young and old can enjoy its use. This will represent a valuable and long overdue recreational asset for Barnegat Township, and we have the utmost confidence that Mr. Cotton will fulfill his commitment to the Township. The Township engineer has agreed to waive or donate to the Township the cost of preparing the report evaluating the various options associated with the field. The Township is greatly appreciative of this gesture.  The Township is in desperate need of athletic and recreational facilities. The completion of this turf field will furnish the Township with a first-class recreational facility that we can all be proud of. Mayor: what is our cost to have this field shipped? SM: Mr. Cotton has a limit of $20,000.
Mayor’s Report:
It was a beautiful night for the High School graduation, the weather held out so we could finally have it outside this year. Also with the Brackman Middle School graduation everything went well. The dock repair is coming along; we will be quite surprised when it is done. Thank you to the Police Officers, Quality Ambulance and the First Aid in saving the newborn baby, it was a team effort.
Administrator update to the dock repair: we learned yesterday that the reimbursement amount will not be 75% but has been increased to 90% of eligible costs. By far the dock is the most expensive project with regards to recovering from Hurricane Sandy. As the Mayor reported, we are making tremendous progress; our goal is by July 5th to have as much of the boardwalk and the expanded band platform done as possible. We are expecting record usage over this 4-day weekend at the bay front areas, where we are concentrating our efforts. Publicly and privately I am very proud of the work being done in that area. We will do well with FEMA, and have a facility that we can be extremely proud of.

Fred Rubenstein – 40 Hickory Circle: I would ask this committee to consider a          resolution that would set down a finite procedure for free newspapers strewn        about the properties. Addressed to Township Attorney: is there any way the          Municipal Court can order prisoner’s help to alleviate work in the Township?
Admin: This is community service work, and we have used them in the past, as         they are limited in what work they can perform. FR: I received a Nixle message         purported to be from the First Aid Squad, with an attachment naming a certain  resident. Admin: This is not a Nixle sent from our department, I will look into it.
Walt Fernandez – 31 Fifth Street: presented the Township with checks for the           14th annual “Day on the Bay†program. Volunteers donate their boats for       special needs and handicapped residents to take a ride on the bay, fuel is    donated, Fire Department was in attendance, Bob’s Bay Marina was this month,      and we will now advertise the next one in August at Sherer’s Boat Basin. The           riders receive food, give-a ways, and a picture of their day.  What we take for     granted is a life-changing experience for these special needs residents, they   enjoy it so much.
Art Robidoux – 108 Ravenwood Blvd.: In addition to sports needed in town, I would like to see a grocery store and a bowling alley, which would bring in        thousands of dollars for this town. Can Genuardi’s be retrofitted for a bowling            alley? I think it should be high on the list this is a limited resource in this area.
Matt Robidoux – 108 Ravenwood Blvd.: How is Bottom Dollar Foods coming            along? AB: they are not interested. In reference to the bowling alley, they will           not invest in this area. Getting a tenant for the Genuardi’s property is an on-   going process; we are all doing our best to resolve this. MR: how about the Denny’s? AB: we have no update on it yet. MR: At the Lower Shore Field; are         they going to have an equipment shop there? Admin: we have various equipment     storage areas.
