6. Committee Reports
M. Lisella – Once again I would like to thank township personnel for clean up efforts. Issue of property storing automobiles improperly, and would like to get this handled properly.
L. Morano – Town Hall lit by Santa this weekend, and hundreds of kids at firehouse party, Thank you to keeping this tradition going.
J. Melchiondo – The Chamber of Commerce continually supports many organizations in the township. We have not forgotten about super storm Sandy and those affected, we have opened a distribution center for those in need with donations received from many people including other states.
7. Administrator’s Report
Gave report on financial impact and personnel efforts with the aftermath of super storm Sandy. FEMA certified debris removal company has been operating in the township to assist us; the cost of this clean up will be very significant. In light of FEMA reimbursements, on a short term basis ratables will take a hit, decrease on a local level, but the County has estimated that $30-35 billion in ratables were adversely impacted by this storm. In order to absorb that decrease the County tax rate will go up next year unless extraordinary financial measures are forthcoming from the state. The Township needs to increase some equipment, especially generators, in the event this or a more devastating storm occurs in order to maintain business. Explained items on this agenda.
Motion to open Public Comment: J. Melchiondo Second: M. Lisella
All are in favor
Larry Cataldo – 9 Village Drive: The extreme costs associated with Menk and builders. This town needs a grocery store, Walters is not going to care since he is getting paid rent for the next seven years.
J. Dasti – explained the litigation process of recouping costs associated with the Menk inspections.
Toni Carrea -9 Old Brookville Road: I called the DEP, and thank you for taking care of this issue of vehicles stored on the Johnson Pit property.
Rose Jackson – 12 Marblehead Place: I am not questioning the need for Quality Medical, but do we usually renew contracts early? Are they giving back to us what we are giving to them? I am unclear on the interpretation of a news article about our reimbursements from FEMA and flood insurance.
Jose Inserra – 20 Stillwaters Ct: The senior communities contribute taxes to help the burden of the schools. If the lease of Genuardi’s is valuable it could be sold to another merchant to move in. Family Foods from Staten Island would love to come down here. The community needs to support its own, and not go to neighboring towns for this to work.
Marianne Clemente – 565 E. Bay Avenue: On the Genuardi’s closing issue; we need to be pro-active in solving this.
Motion to close Public Comment: J. Melchiondo Second: M. Lisella
